School of Design Hosts “Media Literacy Against Fake News” Exhibition
“I don’t like gossip presented as news.” “We don’t know what the truth is anymore.” “Usually when I see some news (in most cases fake) I can’t help but laugh because of the senselessness with which they fill people’s minds.” These are messages from students of the School for design in Belgrade after the installation of an exhibition on fake news, which was organized by the Press Council with the support of UNESCO and the EU.
The exhibition will be available to students from September 23, and a public class is planned where students will be able to discuss fake news, the journalistic profession and media literacy with representatives of the Press Council. The school received 20 copies of the “Lexicon of Media Literacy” publication, which was produced by the Press Council in accordance with the curriculum of the “Language, Media and Culture” subject.
The exhibition consists of four “totems” that stand in the space and offer students answers to questions: why fake news is bad even though it is fun, what is disinformation, who most often spreads fake news, what is the role of influencers and celebrities in all of this. The exhibition was seen by over 7,400 students in Nis, Loznica, Belgrade, Smederevo, Kragujevac, Gornji Milanovac and Kikinda, and it has its own Instagram profile https://www.instagram.com/laznevestiizlozba/ .
