Monitoring of compliance with the of Journalists’ Code of Ethica

As of today, the twelfth annual monitoring of compliance with the Code of Journalists of Serbia begins. It will include nine daily newspapers: Alo, Blic, Danas, Večernje novosti, Informer, Kurir, Politika, Nova and Srpski telegraf.
In the second half of 2025, the Code was violated 7,346 times in 4,506 texts. Almost all newspapers recorded an increase in the number of violations of ethical and professional standards and the number of texts in which they were made.
On average, the code was violated 751 times on a monthly basis in 2025, as opposed to 685 the previous year, which is the largest increase on an annual basis after 2021.
Most violations of the Code occurred when reporting on domestic political topics, content from the “black chronicle” and entertainment topics.
