PRESS RELEASE
Inadmissible posting of disturbing photos on the front pages
The Press Council strongly condemns the decisions of the editorial board of several daily newspapers to publish completely inappropriate and very disturbing photos of the crimes of the criminal clan on the front pages.
Such an action is in complete contradiction with the provisions of the Code of Journalists of Serbia, which prohibit the publication of content that may have a detrimental effect, primarily on children, but which shakes and intimidates all other citizens.
Such extremely inappropriate, unethical and sensationalist “reporting” cannot be justified by the public interest, because it does not in any way contribute to better informing the public, which is the basic task of the media, but on the contrary .
Contrary to the Code, these media do not respect the rights and dignity of victims of crime, the feelings of their family members, but also the right to the presumption of innocence of suspects.
