Youth Between Truth and Lies
(Source: Soinfo) The pilot issue of the Media Laboratory Niš bulletin, prepared as part of a joint project by the Press Council and the Niš Committee for Human Rights, has been published.
The edition titled “Youth Between Truth and Lies” was created for the generation at the very center of the media vortex. As the editorial by Nikola Krstić states, they are “the most active users of social networks, digital platforms, and media content, but also the generation with the strength to change the way information is created, shared, and understood.”
Their ability to critically observe the world around them, to recognize manipulation, and to seek the truth becomes crucial for shaping a future society based on trust, knowledge, and openness – wrote Krstić in the introduction. He added that education, open dialogue, and collective action represent key steps towards creating a more responsible and conscious society, and that the fight against lies in the media is not just a task for journalists and institutions—but a responsibility for all of us.
The pilot edition of the “Youth Between Truth and Lies” bulletin dedicated part of its content to a digital tool for evaluating media content. As explained, it offers young people the opportunity to discover in an interactive way how the media function and how reliable the information we read daily really is. An original text for the pilot bulletin issue about student protests and the disinformation directed against them was prepared by Bojana Zlatković, while student Teodora Radojičić presented a personal perspective on media literacy.
As part of the content, readers are also provided with advice for simple procedures when checking facts, information, and their sources.
