The Informer humiliated the victims and disturbed the public
The Press Council warns that by publishing the confession of a convicted rapist who served a prison sentence, the newspaper Informer violated several points of the Code of Journalists of Serbia and – contrary to the principle of media responsibility – humiliated the victims, disturbed the public and intimidated its readers.
We invite the editorial staff of Informer to start respecting professional standards, human rights of the people they report on in their work and to be guided, above all, by the public interest.
All of that was missing in this case, further degrading the media scene and the reputation of the media in Serbia.
