“Where are the limits of privacy in media reporting?”
(Source: mc.rs)
Press Council Panel
The panel will talk about the extent to which the media (dis)respect the right to privacy, whether and how much they protect the identities of victims and perpetrators of criminal offenses, especially children and minors. Why unethical reporting, without compassion for the families of the victims and respect for the dignity of the victim, is today the rule rather than the exception.
The Press Council wants to share with the journalists present the experiences of the Complaints Commission in deciding on complaints related to violations of the right to privacy and trends that, according to the results of their monitoring, are deteriorating year after year.
They will also talk about how much the right to privacy of public figures really is and what they (do not) have to endure. In particular, they will point out the problems related to privacy in the online sphere and the right to be forgotten.
The participants of the forum would like to hear your experiences, to exchange opinions and try to come up with some solutions together.
