Representatives of the Press Council Participate in an International Conference on the Future of Media Ethics

The Press Council is participating in the 26th Annual Conference of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe (AIPCE), held on September 25 and 26, 2025, in Montenegro. The conference brings together representatives of press councils, ombudspersons, and media professionals from across Europe.
The two-day program focuses on key challenges faced by self-regulatory bodies, including political and economic pressure, disinformation, societal polarization, and the growing presence of non-professional media actors. Panels will examine the role and authority of press councils, as well as strategies to strengthen their impact and relevance—particularly in the digital age and in the context of the new European Media Freedom Act.
A special session will be dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on media and self-regulation, considering the rapid technological changes currently shaping journalism.
The Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe is a network of media self-regulatory bodies working to promote high ethical standards in journalism, defend media freedom, and strengthen accountability in the media across Europe and worldwide.
