Journalists from Kosovo visiting the Press Council
Young journalists from eight Kosovo media in the Albanian and Serbian languages visited the Council today for the press. Eight young colleagues from KTV, ATV, Klan Kosova, from Kanal 10, as well as from Kossevo, from Radio Kontakt plus and Television Most came to Belgrade organized by the OSCE Mission in Pristina.
They discussed media self-regulation and the importance of respecting the ethical rules of the profession with Gordana Novaković, the general secretary of the Press Council. She introduced them to the way of deciding on citizens’ complaints, experiences in working to improve professional standards in journalism and the most frequent violations of the Code of Journalists of Serbia.
Journalists were most interested in how to fight against fake news and disinformation, how it is possible to “fix” the work of media that often violate the journalistic code, as well as what is the difference between self-regulatory and regulated media bodies.
